I had folliculitis and got bactrim. It was working on it. I was diagnosed with a UTI the same week. I will be completing two weeks total. I feel tired. My stomach hurts a little. My back hurts even more than usual. I'm allergic to all penicillin. So I get less options

I recently had a double mastectomy and was given this and I tolerated it ok. Then I had to have my expanders removed and decided to stay flat and Dr gave me this again. By the third dose my face, neck, chest and upper arms turned bright red and very warm. I called my plastic surgeon he said stop that and he will give me something else. The day after my face, neck chest and left arm is ok...just the right upper arm still a tad bit warm like sunburn. Awful drug

Was prescribed this medication for a bladder infection that I didn't know i had. I was asymptomatic when I presented to URGENT care. I was going for 2 days of fever and back and side pain, ni urinary issues that are common to a bladder infection. Immediately after the first dose headache 10/10 very painful. Took Tylenol but it didn't help. Headache was still noticeable. I blew it off. Took the second dose and bam 30 min later real bad headache. Looked up the med and it said persistent headache seek medical attention. After 5 hours of pain I couldn't take it no more. Arrived at the Emergency room, hahaha what a joke another 5 hour wait. Even though the literature states to seek medical attention another 5 hours and no type of intervention for something neuro related interest me. Don't take this medication and don't go to the ER bc they could care less.

I have been prescribed Bactrim many many times for utis since I was 4. I’m now 37. When I was younger I’d just have an upset stomach and nausea, burn nore easily in the summer, and pickles would burn my tongue. the last few times I felt like I was dying. It’s hard for me to get out of bed, I feel extremely weak,muscle/joint pain, and heart rate acts up. The last time I got cephalexin and it made me feel did awful also.

I wouldn't recommend this medication. I started taking it on a Saturday and on Sunday I had extreme anxiety and ended up getting sick because the anxiety was so bad. All the side effects I experienced were loss of appetite, nausea, diarrhea, back pain, chills, insomnia, vomiting, etc. I had to take two a day for 6 days and I couldn't take the last one because of the side effects. I would definitely see if your doctor has an alternative to take.

Was prescribed this for Bursitus. After the 6th day I was in the ER. High fever, chills, joint and muscle aches, and on the last day I received a large rash on my chest neck, arms and abdomen that is still here 48 hours after taking medication. The Dr. In the ER wouldn’t pin my symptoms all to the drug (thanks pharmaceutical companies) but after reading this, I’m 100% convinced this drug took me down a scary road. Glad I got help when I did. I got prescribed a new med, and am taking Benadryl now. I thought I was dying.

I m taking Bactrim because of UTI. I didn't experience any side effect with this drugs so far I'm drinking water everytime. This the 10th day taking the drug. The only thing is that I'm still feeling pains in my abdomen which makes me not know if the medicine cure my UTI

Bactrim is a POISON PILL! Was prescribed for UTI, two pills a day for 14 days. I took the first three pills (a day and a half) and then WHAM when I woke up in the morning! I could not get out of bed.... SEVERE anxiety and panic attack. I was so flippin' sick. I tolerate antibiotics well so this was a complete shock. I did look up why a reaction this bad might have occurred and found that 'propylene glycol' is in this pill. I am a 'vaper' and propylene glycol is in vape fluid. Propylene Glycol is also in many of the foods, soda, etc. that we eat and drink. I read that one should not consume any propylene glycol while taking this pill as it may exacerbate the negative symptoms already established for Bactrim BEWARE IF YOUR ARE A VAPER!!!!!@

I have taken before with no problem. This time I started with a headache after the first dose. Had a rough night, felt feverish and every bone in my torso ached and hurt, along with severe headache and nausea. I thought it was because I hadn’t eaten much food. Took the second dose and still had headache but took anti-nausea medicine along with so that helped me sleep some. Took the third dose because was feeling better and had no symptoms of UTI and immediately developed severe headache that would not go away. Was ill all night long, the same bone pain as well as slight tremors, burning hot and freezing cold. The side effects made me much sicker than my initial problem. I missed 3 days of work because of it and I’m still not better. I have weakness, nausea, GI distress, but the headache finally stopped. I don’t know why I had this reaction this time. I had taken it once before for UTI without issue. Same dosage. I was unable to finish a 3-day course.

I’m on day 6 taking Bactrim and really having to make myself take the remaining 4 days. As long as I’m still, I’m fine. When I get up to cook supper, wash clothes, etc., I break out into a sweat like I’ve run a marathon. Heart beats heavily and I get short of breath. If I just sit still, I’m fine. I just hate having to sit here 4 more days! Nasty stuff!

Took one pill the evening after Dr appt with food. Second next morning with food. By mid day, I had neck pain and stiffness. Somwwhat intense. Thought I slept bad or sonething. No biggie. Took 3rd pill after dinner on day 2. Woke up at 230 am completely paralyzed with debilitating pain and stiffness. I still don't know root cause, but I blame these meds. I did not take am pill (4). Waiting for Dr. Swallowing is now becoming difficult, pain radiating into head, jaw, temples. Zero range of motion with out extreme pain.

I've lived with MRSA my entire life. Most antibiotics do suck, there's only a handful that work with MRSA and this one works great. The side effects suck but it gets your body feeling better after 10 days, max. Be aware of the stomach issues, headaches, small grade fever, and tiredness/insomnia. It's only while you're taking it and not long term, promise. It's really decent for an antibiotic.

Have had to deal with weight gain, major bloating in stomach, vaginal and thighs. Along with my edema it is very uncomfortable. chest tightness, major chills ( Nevada and I’m wearing a sweatshirt!) , fever, general feeling of tiredness or weakness, headache from time to time, itching, skin rash, joint and muscle pain, loss of appetite, side pain, nausea, pain, tenderness, or swelling of the foot and leg, pale skin, red skin lesions, often with a purple cente, thrush /sore throat, sores in the mouth, stomach pain, swollen, painful glands, unusual bleeding or bruising, insomnia. I think it’s the insomnia that’s bringing me down, can’t get a good rest then I’m up all day trying to function of no sleep. But it is treating my Pyoderma Gangrenosum along with my infections that happened twice! I’m also taking another antibiotic with this one so the symptoms are probably intensified but I’m healing that’s all that matters! Can’t wait until I’m off of it however! .

Taken orally. Lost appetite and dehydrated plus nausea, but honestly I think the nausea everyone complains about might be from not keeping up with enough water and food. Otherwise, no complaints. I've been on heavy antibiotics a lot so I'm a bit more immune to side effects than most people.

I hate this drug. I don’t recommend. I have a sore throat, congested with mucus, migraines everyday since I’ve been taking this medication, nauseousness and about 2 seconds from throwing up. Major cramps and doesn’t help my period is in 2 days. Makes me feel empty and I lost my appetite to eat anything. I’ve been drinking a lot of water and Tea and I’ve been peeing more frequently then usual and my pee is now as clear as clean toilet water. I’ve been taking this medication since Thursday the 14th and I’ve taken 3 pills for 3 days. I can’t do it no more, it’s to much for my body itself to consume a drug that’s going to make my body react like that. Good luck to the people that take this drug.

I’ve used this before, and I just thought the first time around, my body just had to get used to it, I stopped taking it after a couple of days, again the same thing… Absolutely the WORST. It doesn’t bother me until the third or fourth day, then BOOM, I get dizzy, really dehydrated, insomnia, really bad anxiety, and I just overall don’t feel like myself. i feel bizarre. Please ask for another antibiotic if you can.

This drug is absolutely horrible I got a fever the night I took it with an insane full head headache. I called in sick to work and layed in bed all day was nauseous and feverish with the headache so bad you don’t want to even move. I got the same affect the next day I’m now going to head to urgent care to let them know about the horrible reaction

Thank God for this website -- I thought I was going crazy. Easily the worst medication I have ever taken. The anxiety, vertigo, sinking feeling, nausea, loss of appetite, and headaches are debilitating. I completely agree with the other reviews -- I don't know how or why this drug is legal. I only took it for one day and immediately stopped taking it (it was hell -- for lack of a better term). Do not take this!!!

I took this for an abscess and it was terrible. Twice a day for 10 days. I finally quit on day 8. It does seem to have taken care of the infection, but the side effects have been rough. Headaches, vertigo, hives, nausea, insomnia, fever, aches. I took my last dose 24hrs ago and I still have a headache, dry eyes and my lips/tongue seem to be tingling.

Do not take if you have a uti and your doctor test your urine and it came back negative and having a clean pap smear don't listen like I did and take this medication by day 2 I felt like DEATH a dizzy hurtful headache Tylenol nor ibuprofen was working... very sick, did throw up..it hurts to open your eyes this medicine will have you stuck in bed for almost two days. Do not recommend.

I didn't start having issues until day 4 with this medicine. I had a runny nose, sore throat, body aches, and tiredness. The side effects had me thinking I had COVID. The next night insomnia, fever, chills, and a headache from hell. Nothing I took could relieve the pain. The headache was only on the right side of my face. This made my ear and teeth hurt really bad. Now my right cheek is numb. It feels like I went to the dentist and received numbing shots. It cleared up my infection, but this pain is too much.

I’m so glad I found this website with all of your crazy reviews on bactrim. This was my first time taking it. Although, my doctor has no idea what my problem was, he figured it was a uti, while starting with Ibs. I kept having pelvic pains and he figured it was a uti. I took 4 pills total once every 12 hours, first day it worked great, the next day I started feeling super ill, and I may have covid(waiting for results) because my whole household has covid, last night I started feeling off like dry mouth(it’s awful) and started getting a rash on my forearm, I hardly slept all night, woke up every hour. Took one pill this morning and as soon as noon got here, I felt like death hit me in the face, I was having severe chills, with no fever, I couldn’t get warm and I had the absolute worst dizzy spell, like my blood sugar was dropping and I felt like I was going to pass out. It didn’t make sense to me because I was drinking water and Gatorade the last 2 days so I knew I was hydrated and I was peeing a lot. I know what deyhydration feels like and sometimes I hit the flew and can barely move. I started getting shortness of breath..This pill is garbage! I’m done!!!

I'm really surprised to hear all of the bad side affects. I did not have any, in fact it helped with digestive issues I had, although that is not what I was taking it for. I took it twice daily for 10 days for an abscess. It cleared the infection.

I took my first pill around 11:30 am, I was fine until 8:00 that night. I developed a fever of 104.5, was nauseous, had the chills, sore throat, confused, dizziness, and a terrible headache. I went to urgent care where they diagnosed me. 2 days later, I still have the headache, dizziness, and am so exhausted.

I hate this medication! I was told to take twice a day for a week (dosage not known) and all it has done is double increase the amount of times i urinate. it has gotten so bad my body does not stop urinating all day and night and i cant do anything because of it!! It has not helped with the frequencies of me feeling the need to use the bathroom due to my UTI, it has made it worse in that manner. only thing this pill has given me is some nausea and migraines. Since my pee is also super clear im going to stop taking it.

I recently had a UTI i went to the dr and was prescribed Bactrim WORST DRUG I HAVE EVER TAKEN BY FAR!!!!! Strongly recommend against using this, i’ve had my fair shares of UTIs and have used antibiotics often to treat them and i have never had such a terrible experience then on bactrim i was only supposed to take it twice a day for 3 days and on the first day i could not even stand up i went to the ER they checked me and said my UTI was getting cleared up so my symptoms should go away soon (thinking my symptoms was all from a UTI) so i continued to take the bactrim that night and my symptoms worsened insomnia, severe anxiety, EXCRUCIATING back pain, pain and some swelling around my vagina, vomiting, dizziness, fatigue, stopped taking the drug after that i feel so so so terrible and i’m so sorry for everyone else who has experienced this.

Prescribed for 10 days twice a day for an abscess on my neck. Have never any real side effects to antibiotics before. This drug changed that. Nausea, severe headaches, dizzy, vertigo, lethargic and brain fog. I’m 7 days in and it did cure the infection I had but man I feel terrible and have 3 more days to go on this med.

Spider bit/treated for mrsa. I felt terrible and didn’t know why due to the fact I’m a long hauler. I have been nauseous, head was hurting. But the worst part was I almost collapsed at work my legs gave out on me and heart rate jumped to 159 rushed to ER for test results showing all labs normal. I have finished the pills finally but it’s been 2days since I finished and I’m still really weak and nauseous I just don’t feel right could this possibly be from this drug?? And my stomach is hurting and feels bloated

I was prescribed Bactrim on a 7 days, twice a day treatment. I had no nausea or stomach issues like I usually do with other antibiotics. My biggest complaints are the excruciating headaches, the longer I took, the worse they got. I also look like I had my soul drained from my body, I look tired and week. The medication got the job done, so I won't complain too much but I'm glad I only have 1 pill left to take.

I’ve been put on bactrim two pills a day for several days, I’m currently on day 5 and it is the worst pill I have ever taken. The nausea is awful (even with nausea medicine), the headaches are intense, I can’t sleep, my back is sensitive, I can barely drink, and I cannot eat. I can barely even drink broth. I strongly recommend asking for a different medication!

I was prescribed Bactrim for a possible bursitis infection on my below. The day or two after starting the med I got the worst stomach pains and nausea. I can’t sleep at night and I just want to curl up in a ball and lay down all day. I’m not hungry and have actually lost a couple pounds. I’ve been taking it with food and even tried taking with yogurt. I took a probiotic yesterday and it didn’t make any difference. It literally feels like someone punched me right in the gut. I stopped taking the medication because I can’t deal with this pain anymore. The dr prescribed a diff antibiotic after I called and complained.
